Nutritional Therapy explained

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Nutritional therapy practitioners use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine. It is relevant both for individuals looking to enhance their health and wellbeing and for those with chronic conditions wishing to work with or ‘consult’ a nutritional therapist in collaboration with other suitably qualified healthcare professionals.

Practitioners consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Practitioners never recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. They will also frequently work alongside a medical professional and will communicate with other health care professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional programme that has been provided.

Lentils & Halloumi

Rinse the lentils in several changes of water until the water runs clear. Place in a saucepan and add 1 litre water and 1tsp turmeric. Bring to the boil and set the heat to medium. Cook for 10 min or until the lentils are mushy when rubbed between the finger and thumb.

Chicken Wings Soup

Place the whole chicken wings in a saucepan. Cover with plenty of cold water and bring to the boil. Skim the froth then add the onion, carrot, pepper corns and bay leaf. Boil on medium heat for 1 hour.

Meatballs & PotSalad

Turkey Meatballs & Potato Salad

Heat one Tbsp oil in a shallow pan. Add the chopped onions and fry on medium heat to soften. Place the Turkey mince in a bowl. Make a hole in the centre. Add the egg, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper. Mix well and then form into eight balls. Roll each meatball into the flour to dust.
